Do you need special trucks for a drop through longboard?
You don’t need specific trucks for a drop-through – it’s the deck that’s special. In theory, drop-through decks work with any kind of skateboard trucks. However, we strongly recommend a proper longboard (“RKP”) truck rather than a regular “Street Style” truck.
What are drop through longboards best for?
They are great for cruising and carving and for most ride styles that keep you under 25 mph, while Drop Throughs have the trucks mounted through the deck. They are great for faster speed riding, downhill, and some long distance riding.
Is a drop through longboard good for beginners?
A drop-through longboard is a great option for a beginner. Multiple flex options ensure there is an option for each rider style. Bamboo and fiberglass construction are incredibly durable and forgiving–great for someone new to skateboarding. This deck is sure to get you started and keep you going!
Why do longboards have drop through trucks?
Drop through boards have the baseplate of the truck sit on the top of the deck while the hanger “drops through” the bottom. This lowers the board closer to the ground, increasing stability for speed and efficiency for pushing. However, this reduces carving ability. Check out our Drop Through boards here.
Are cruisers better than longboards?
Stability. Overall, a longboard is more stable than a cruiser board. A longboard has a longer deck (and hence a longer wheelbase), larger wheels, and wider trucks. This provides added room for feet placement and higher shock absorption when rolling over cracks and crevices.
Are cruisers good for beginners?
Cruiser motorcycles are a great option for beginners because of their relaxed seating position and low seat height. Cruisers come in a wide variety of engine and chassis sizes as well, meaning that no matter what your level of riding expertise, there is a bike out there for you.
Which board is best for cruising?
A cruiser board is the best type of skateboard to use for cruising short distances. Longer than a standard skateboard but shorter than a longboard, cruiser boards are easily maneuverable mid-length boards designed for cruising streets. Longboards are an excellent choice for a long, comfortable ride.
Can you longboard uphill?
Pushing uphill on your longboard Pushing uphill is the most natural approach for many longboarders. When you’re facing a short uphill in between twoo flat or downhill sections, it’s typically easy to just kick push your longboard like you would do on flats.
How do you slow down fast on a longboard?
If you’re cruising on flat surface at relatively low speed, e.g. 10-15 mph, the easiest and most obvious way to stop on your longboard is to just stop pushing and ride it out, letting friction from the ground slow you down. All you need is to have enough space ahead.
Why does my longboard wobble at high speeds?
CJ: For starters, speed wobs can be caused by a number of different reasons. A common one being loose trucks. Loose trucks can give you too much turning ability, making your set up hyper-responsive for any speed over 10-20mph. If you’re going faster than that, then you just might want to tighten your trucks.
How does a drop down longboard work on a truck?
Drop-down longboards have a special shape that makes the section of the deck where you stand on (aka the standing foot platform) closer to the ground than the truck mount points. A drop-down deck curves and drops down between the trucks so your feet sit lower to the ground than the mount holes.
Which is better drop down or Topmount longboards?
While a drop-down deck has a dropped shape, it can be either drop-through (with cutout holes in it for mounting the trucks across) or topmount (the trucks are simply bolted on the deck bottom). Drop-down longboards offer more stability than other types of boards due to their riding low to the ground.
Which is the best drop down longboard for freeriding?
The Santa Cruz has deep wheel cutouts which give it a lot of clearance for deep carves at speed (wheelbite is dangerous!) This drop-down longboard is well-suited for a versatile mix of distance pushing (no deck rub here), intense carving, and freeriding.
Why does a drop down longboard have a lower center of gravity?
A drop-down deck curves and drops down between the trucks so your feet sit lower to the ground than the mount holes. Therefore, your center of gravity is lower on a drop-down longboard than on other longboards, including some drop-throughs.
