What are building control plans?
The Building Control is carried out to guarantee that any new building work aligns with the building regulations. This is done by reviewing the plans and details submitted with an application and then inspecting the construction work as it progresses on site.

Does building control check planning permission?

What should be included in a building control application?

How are building control fees calculated?
The amount of fees payable to Building Control will be dependent on the nature of work undertaken. Where works do not encompass small buildings, extensions or conversions the fee can be calculated on an “estimated cost of works” basis. The estimated cost should be based on a contractors cost to carry out such work.

How do I find building Control approval?
You can check if you need building regulations approval for your building work on the:
- Local Authority Building Control (LABC) website.
- Planning Portal.
What happens if you build without building regs?
The Local Authority has to see that building work complies with the Regulations. If the work does not comply, you may be asked to alter or remove it. If you fail to do this, the Local Authority may serve a notice requiring you do so within 28 days, and you will be liable for the costs.
Do I need planning permission or building regs?
It is generally realised that a form of permission is required for building work or alterations of properties. For other building work, such as internal alterations, buildings regulations approval will probably be needed, but planning permission may not be.
How long do building plans take to be approved?
Although timeframes vary, a rule of thumb is that plan approval can take up to 30 days.

What are the building regulations in the UK?
Building control Building regulations are minimum standards for design, construction and alterations to virtually every building. The regulations are developed by the UK government and approved by Parliament. The Building Regulations 2010 cover the construction and extension of buildings and these regulations are supported by Approved Documents.
