What was Fort Worden used for?
Constructed between 1898 and 1917, the Fort Worden of 100 years ago was home to nearly 1,000 troops and officers training to defend the Puget Sound from potential invaders. As the headquarters of the defenses, Fort Worden was strategically placed at the north entrance to the Puget Sound, on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
