Can a squat rack be used for bench press?
Yes. You just need to make sure you have your squat stand set up right and don’t go above the maximum weight capacity. The safety bars will need to be set around an inch above your chest to make sure that they will catch the bar should you need to drop it.
How wide are bench press racks?
To sum up, you’ll most often see power racks on the market that are around 40-50″ deep, 46-52″ wide, and usually just over 80″ tall.
Can you leave a barbell on the rack?
It won’t happen right away, but it will happen at some point. It’s best not to take a chance. Virtually every barbell manufacturer out there strongly recommends unloading your bar when not in use. Don’t leave your bar propped up in a corner or against a wall.
How many reps should I bench?
Doing around 6–20 reps per set is usually best for building muscle, with some experts going as wide as 5–30 or even 4–40 reps per set. For bigger lifts, 6–10 reps often works best. For smaller lifts, 12–20 reps often works better.
Can you bench with a half rack?
The half-rack can be used for a number of exercises, such as bench presses and squats, lunges, and even barbell presses if you have an accessory adequate for this type of weight. Also, you can do pull-ups, with the help of the top bar.

Is Leaving weights on bar bad?
Yes, barbells really bend when weights are left on them. This will happen more to cheap, low-quality barbells. Your Eleiko bar will probably tolerate a fair bit of weight for a long time before it bends. But it will bend eventually!
At what weight does the barbell bend?
Seven bars developed bends ranging from 1/2″ to 3″ in the 350 – 700 pound range. Eleiko and Udeholm made it to 700 pounds before bending. Two bars made it to 1100 pounds without developing bends: the Ivanko OBX-20KG and the Hastings Manganese Alloy bar.
