Do petrol cars have EGR?
External Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) has been used on diesel engines for decades and has also been used on gasoline engines in the past. It is recently reintroduced on gasoline engines to improve fuel economy at mid and high engine load conditions, where EGR can reduce throttling losses and fuel enrichment.
Are EGR valves expensive to replace?
How much does it cost to replace an EGR valve? Based on Fixter’s repairs and replacement figures, EGR valve replacement cost (UK) ranges between £337 and £804. The average cost of an EGR valve replacement balances out at £465.
What happens when EGR valve is blocked?
A clogged or malfunctioning EGR valve can disrupt the vehicle’s air-fuel ratio, which can cause engine performance issues such as a reduction in power, acceleration, and even fuel efficiency.
What happens if you have a bad EGR valve?
A faulty EGR valve can cause problems with the flow and operation of the EGR system leading to performance issues including a reduction in power, reduced acceleration and decreased fuel efficiency. It can also cause vehicle emissions to increase.
How to remove EGR on Astra van 1.7 CDTI?
53 reg Astra van 1.7CDTi. Z17DTL I’m hoping to remove the EGR later and have a go at cleaning it or at least get it moving again. I never realised how difficult an EGR valve can be to remove until I read this thread, it looks a right pain. 1) In step 7 of the guide above, ljones mentions that I have to disconnect the coolant hose.
Why was the EGR removed on my 1.7 CDTI?
When my MAF sensor went it suggested an EGR error on the fault codes. Lookers had the car for 3 days and claimed they took the EGR valve apart and cleaned it on the 1.7cdti 100BHP. I didn’t think there was much of a difference between the 80 & 100BHP engine in the 1.7.
How to remove throttle valve from Astra CDTI?
Remove throttle valve body by detaching the air hose at the front of the engine, remove the wiring harness plug and unscrew the 4 bolts. 6. Disconnect wiring harness plug from EGR-actuator
What kind of engine is a 1.7 CDTI?
