Do group text messages use data?
Android smartphone – group texts and picture/video messaging will not be available. If you do not have cellular data (and are not connected to WiFi) and have iMessage turned on, normal text messages will not be able to send or receive. You must disable iMessage for regular texting to work.
Does a group text count as one?
Group messages are not counted as a single message, i.e: if you have 10 recipients you will be charged for 10 messages. Similarly, the phone may or may not open 10 different threads, which may also make it a bit difficult to manage all the conversations.
Does text count against data?
Messages are considered texts and don’t count toward your data usage. Your data usage is also free when you turn on chat features.
Do MMS group messages use data?
Group messages are MMS and do require data. Even if you don’t have data service on your phone you should be able to send them while connected to wifi.
Can you use iMessage on a phone without service?
iMessage is Apple’s own instant messaging service that sends messages over the Internet, using your data. They only work when you have an Internet connection. To send iMessages, you need a data plan, or you can send them over WiFi. (This is true if just one person in a group message is on Android too.)
How can I receive iMessages without using data?
If you don’t have a data plan, or turn your data off occasionally, then it is recommended to turn off iMessage altogether and use regular text messaging instead. To do this, go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage off.
Is there a limit to iPhone group text?
Limit the number of people in a group. Apple’s iMessage group text app for iPhones and iPads can accommodate up to 25 people, according to the Apple Tool Box blog, but Verizon customers can only add 20. However, just because you can add that many people doesn’t mean you should.
Can I still receive texts with cellular data off?
