If the sensors detect something, they’ll alert you via an audible and/or visual warning. Some vehicles even use a camera as the main part of the system or to complement the sensors.

The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system uses two radar-based sensors, located inside the rear bumper fascia, to detect highway licensable vehicles (automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, etc.) that enter the blind spot zones from the rear/front/side of the vehicle.
Can sensors be added to a car?
Yes, many new vehicles do come with sensors already factory-installed, but we can add them to most vehicles on the road today. The sensors mount in the front and rear bumpers in holes cut with a special drill bit that allows for a precise fit.
Do you really need blind spot monitor?
They’re most helpful on multi-lane roads or highways with frequent high-speed driving. If you’re usually confined to 1-lane roads or low-speed traffic jams, blind spot monitors are unlikely to do you any good. Finally, we think you should give the monitors a true test before you order them for your next vehicle.
Are Blind Spot Mirrors worth it?
Yes, as long as you place the blind spot mirror correctly. Although they are small, they do the job of showing you the spots that you can’t normally see with the OEM side mirror. Be careful, though, as there is still a chance that you might not be able to see every inch of the blind spot, so proper placement is key.
