Is it OK to walk with an Aircast?
When treating a sprain, the Air-Stirrup splint should be worn whenever walking for at least four weeks, or as long as you continue to have ankle pain. You should continue to wear it at least 6 weeks whenever running, playing sports or any activity where there is increased risk of re-injury.

What is a Aircast for?
The Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace is commonly worn immediately after an ankle injury and throughout recovery. It’s intended to prevent or treat acute ankle injuries, chronic instability, post-operative use and ankle sprains grade I, II, and III.
Do you sleep in aircast?
Depending on your injury, it is sometimes recommended that you sleep with your walker boot on so that you continue receiving support. If you do have to leave the boot on, loosen the straps for comfort.
How tight should an Aircast be?
Tighten the straps so they are snug but not too tight. The boot should limit movement but not cut off your blood flow. If your boot has one or more air chambers, pump them up as directed by your healthcare provider. Stand up and take a few steps to practice walking.
Can I wear a boot instead of cast?
For all patients with ankle fracture, immobilisation is a critical part of treatment. Short-leg walking boots (WBs) have been reported to be an effective alternative to plaster casts (PCs) that could shorten this postoperative recuperative period.
